Strong Advocacy
For Tough Cases

Experienced

Matthew Nied is a Vancouver-based lawyer and the principal of Nied Law – Litigation Counsel. Before founding his own firm, he spent nearly a decade at two of Canada’s leading national business law firms, most recently as a partner. He founded his own firm to continue providing his clients with the same high quality legal services in an innovative, efficient and personalized manner.

His litigation practice covers a wide range of cases including corporate and commercial disputes, contract disputes, real estate disputes, bankruptcy and insolvency matters, as well as tort cases including negligence, fraud and defamation. He has appeared before all levels of court in British Columbia and before various tribunals and commissions. He also has experience with mediation and arbitration.

Before commencing practice, he clerked for seven judges of the Supreme Court of British Columbia. Matthew’s objective is to turn his legal knowledge, experience and insight into value for the benefit of his clients. His approach is not simply to “represent” his clients, but to understand their business and perspectives so that he can best help achieve their goals. He is strategic, creative, determined and effective.

Client Focused

The legal industry is changing. Clients should demand more than just excellent legal services from their service providers; they should also demand greater innovation and efficiency.

Having his own firm enables Matthew to leverage modern practices and technology to provide the highest quality representation in an efficient manner. The fees charged reflect the value of the time and experience applied to advancing your interests – not the overhead of large corner offices and other unnecessary costs which have nothing to do with winning your case.

Purpose Driven

Law is more than just business to Matthew. He believes that the ability to practice law is a privilege that lawyers must earn every day. He is passionate about legal issues and represents disadvantaged and marginalized individuals on a pro bono basis, for which he received the Allan Parker QC Award for Representation Services in 2022. He also writes articles and speaks about new developments in the law.
